Girl Scouts of WNY Exhibit

Client: Girl Scouts of WNY

As part of the Girl Scouts History on the Move initiative, we were asked to develop temporary exhibits at the Hearthstone Lodge at Camp Windy Meadows in Lockport, NY, a destination location for Girl Scouts in the region.

Utilizing donated exhibit cabinets and housing the museum collection at Lockport, GSWNY was able to optimize access to the permanent collection and create the opportunity for history programs at the camp. The exhibits address one of the organization’s priorities: Increasing utilization of council assets which includes visits to properties and camps as well as access to the collection of historical objects.

With the assistance of graduate students Rosario Pitta, Olivia Weixlmann, Reilly Wesolek, Ashley Anderson, Alexa Templeton, Cohen Sulzbach, Sarah Drozda and Kathrine Coward, we researched the extant objects and subsequently designed and interpreted a variety of themes on a very limited budget with the anticipation that a more robust, professionally designed exhibit would be installed at a later date.
